Mayor Michael Bloomberg jumped to the rescue of one New Yorker Wednesday, helping to revive a young man who apparently fainted during a news conference in the Bronx.
According to the New York Times, the young man, identified by friends as Emmanuel Vera, a pitcher on Lehman College’s baseball team, thudded to the ground without warning.
Mayor Bloomberg was one of the first to jump to the rescue. He searched for a pulse in his neck and tried to get Vera to start talking, the Times reported.
After a few minutes Vera began to regain consciousness and he was whisked away by emergency officials.
Seemingly unruffled, paramedic Mike returned to the lectern to continue his talk on the rising number of black and Hispanic students from city schools who are enrolling in CUNY institutions.

Thank you Mayor Mike!
Maybe now he can try to revive the NYC economic problem!!
I’ll bet he fainted after seeing what Mayor Mike wanted to tax next!
Paramedic? So he has parnosso if he ever leaves office….
Since he’s a billionaire, he doesn’t really need to work for a living when he leaves office, though.
Hey Mr. Maya would you do all of us a favor; get certified and hit the streets. That way we will not have to worry about your trying to raise revenue for whatever program you dream of!
He probably doesn’t want to get certified because it ain’t such a great job to be a NYC medic these days, though I have no idea whose fault that is.
