Paterson Hits New Low In NY Governor Poll

paterson4.jpgA new Marist College poll shows Gov. David Paterson with the lowest approval rating of any New York governor in the 30-year history of the poll.

The Democrat dropped 20 percentage points since the January poll and just 26 percent of voters say he’s doing a good or excellent job.

Only 30 percent of Democrats statewide say Paterson is doing an above-average job.

Sliding poll numbers are one of the reasons Paterson recently reshuffled his cabinet.

The poll also finds most voters now prefer Republican Rudy Giuliani in a possible 2010 matchup for governor. The former New York City mayor hasn’t said he’ll run.

The poll released Tuesday surveyed 1,045 registered voters from Feb. 25-26. The poll has a margin of error of 3 percentage points.

  1. at the moment Governor Paterson is being honest and being punished for telling us things that we don’t want to hear and for taking on the health care workers

  2. I agree with flatbusher. If he was really willing to cut the budget let him start with the education portion and offer vouchers to everyone who wants one. I $9,000 per child is a lot less than the State spends on public school.
