There was achdus in Ashdod on Shabbos as all shuls issued a call to mispallalim to take part in the atzeres to decry the Chilul Shabbos in the city, the opening of the Big Center shopping mall on the holy day.

The atzeres is set to take place on erev Rosh Chodesh Sivan on Yerushalayim Blvd in the Rova Zayin area of the city. The event is endorsed by all rabbonim in the city.

Members of the Vaad Shabbos visited the mall on Shabbos to determine if it is continuing to operate, which sadly was the case. The vaad remembers added that a store that has not been opening to date has joined in, opening its doors on Shabbos as well.

Police have given a permit for the erev Rosh Chodesh Sivan event, which is advertised as an atzeres tefilla. Mincha and Yom Kippur Koton will be recited along with Tehillim. The tzibur will then recite Kabolas Ohl Malchus Shomayim led by prominent rabbonim shlita of the city.
