Felder Appointed Chairman of Council’s Sanitation Committee

felder2.jpgCity Hall – Councilman Simcha Felder was appointed Chairman of the City Council’s Sanitation and Solid Waste Management Committee. Since he was elected to the New York City Council, Felder has been responsible for some of the most sweeping sanitation reforms in the city. For example, limiting the time sanitation agents can ticket homeowners, preventing people from littering our doorways with menus and circulars, and restructuring the sanitation violation appeal process mandating a more efficient, responsive and equitable adjudication process, all the while making sure the City’s streets are the cleanest in decades.

“I am excited to be able to continue my work ensuring reasonable and responsible sanitation enforcement, while ensuring our streets stay clean,” said Felder. “There is a lot of work to do and am honored to be appointed to this position.”

Accepting this chairmanship will require Councilman Felder to give up the chair of the Council’s Governmental Operations Committee, which Felder has held for nearly four years. As chairman of the Governmental Operations Committee, Felder passed historic campaign finance and lobbying restrictions, some of the strictest in the country. While he will miss the Governmental Operations Committee, Councilman Felder is looking forward to taking on new challenges leading the Sanitation and Solid Waste Management Committee.

  1. I live in the district, he has not HELPED with one yeshiva with his discretionary funds, he has used all of it on parks, appointed Pakistanis to CB 14, has hired relatives to be his chief of staff and is a puppet of Bloomberg, I plan on supporting Lazar. As far this commitee (which was held by Michael McMahon) he will not make a difference just like he did not help fight water bills going up.
