A man robbed an Investors Savings Bank in Lakewood on Thursday afternoon, Lakewoodpolice said.
Police received a call from the bank on Route 70 at 4:35 p.m., Lakewood Lt. Michael Mooney said. The robber passed a note to a teller demanding money, which was placed in a brown sandwich bag. He then left the bank on foot.
“He made mention of a weapon, but no weapon was shown,” Mooney said.
The police would not release the amount of money stolen. Lakewood police are investigating, and the FBI has been notified.
A string of bank robberies has occurred recently in Ocean County, including in Toms River and Brick.
