It was a flock of Canada geese that brought down Flight 1549 last month, authorities confirmed Thursday. The National Transportation Safety Board confirmed that US Airways Flight 1549 lost power after both engines sucked in Canada geese.
The conclusion was based on DNA samples and research at the Smithsonian Institution’s Feather Identification Laboratory, the NTSB said.
No one was seriously injured in the Jan. 15 “Miracle on the Hudson” as the pilot and co-pilot brought the plane safely down in the Hudson River.
An adult Canada goose typically weighs between 5.8 pounds and 10.7 pounds, the NTSB said. The “bird-ingestion standard” in effect when the engines were manufactured in 1996 was 4 pounds, according to the NTSB.

They are called canada geese and are lav davka Canadian.
You probably are.
maybe #1 means: like “ful hamitzri” in the mishna. sometimes non-standard things are attributed to certain countries to show that they are different
These geese are both a nuisance and a menace. If not for wacko animal rights groups, we would wipe out these infernal creatures (or rather, modify their numbers to a reasonable level). The only thing worse than walking on a New York sidewalk is walking under a pigeon’s nest, and the only thing worse than that is walking in the grass where these creatures roam.
A pound, per day, per bird.
#1 is correct. The name Canada geese is not meant to imply that they are Canadian per se.
They were named so because biologists could not agree whether to name the species “Problem Geese” or “Pest Geese”. So they compromised by using a more generic name.
better a CDN geese than a yankee pigeon eh!
Nebach – new yorkers know nothing of the world outside of new york
=)
A proud Canadian

the strange postings….)
