Former President George W. Bush and his wife have left Washington for their Texas home, after eight years in the White House. Following the inauguration of Barack Obama as the nation’s 44th president, Bush and his wife Laura boarded a helicopter alongside the U.S. Capitol. Bush left the Capitol grounds in a helicopter that just an hour ago would have been called Marine One. The new president and his wife walked them to the chopper — keeping with tradition — to see them off.
The Bushes are first headed to Midland, Texas, for a homecoming celebration in the city that hosted a send-off for them eight years ago. Then they’ll go to their ranch in Crawford for their first night as private citizens again.

Shouldn’t it read ‘Former President”?
Calling President Bush “Ex-President” is insulting and demeaning. I hope it was an innocent mistake, and either way, keeping it like that seems to me like a Chillul Hashem R”L.
What a sad day for the United States. We have lost a great President and exchanged him for what is essentially a TV actor. A great speaker, but a man with little experience, dubious acquaintances and pronounced far left views. Dig in for four years, people.
What difference does it make who the president is – the only thing that matters this moment is that Ex-President Bush did not free Jonothan Pollard. Shame shame shame on him.
We never give up though -Yeshuas hashem kiheref ayin!
Bush is probably relieved. No more headaches, he can sleep like a free man!
The question that begs an answer is WHY wasn’t Pollard freed? It makes no sense, so many others were pardoned. Why is he being held like this and for so long? The White House was innudated with phone calls, letters and faxes-can someone authoritavely answer this?
While it is true that there were other last minute pardons, non were as high-profile. Bush, like past presidents, was afraid to risk his name with such a high-profile pardon. There are still many voices in the State Dept & CIA who are against his release, unfortunately.
About pollard. I heard from a friend who his brother is in politics that sen. lieberman told him not to try to get him out because they will never free him This friend also dated a former CIA agent who told him the same thing.what he did (or found out?)is so serious that they want him to stay in prison forever. The only thing we can do is keep davening and doing hishtadlus for a neis.Or wait till moshiach comes bimheira biyameinu.
I assure you all, YWN had no intention of demeaning Former President Bush.
Speaking of a Chillul Hashem (#2), wouldn’t it be a Chillul Haskem to call our new President a TV ACTOR?
I believe proper protocal is to refer to former presdents as Mr. President when talking to them
Anyone who knows correct English knows that “ex” is perfectly acceptable. Unfortunately many people here don’t know proper English, or even proper history for that matter.
When it comes to pardoning, the President needs courage, bravery and large shoulders…
listen everyone, the answer is plain and simple, and very clear. obviously Hashem DID NOT WANT pollard to be pardoned. there is a time and place for everything, and there is a master plan that we as mortals are unable to understand. we just have to keep on davening and doing the right things to bring the geulah closer and maybe then we will be able to understand the many many occurrences and issues that we don’t understand today.
good riddance all he did was all MUSLIM IMMIGRANTS to come here and spend billions on Iraq but leave our yeshivas vulnerable
Doesn’t anyone know that once a President is called by that title, it is never taken from him? He continues to be referred to as President.
To Queenser: You missed my words preceding: “what is essentially”. And I stand by them. Take away the teleprompter and President BHO has not much else to offer. Empty, glib platitudes, vague promises of “hope” and “change” and meaningless chants of “yes, we can” do not take away from his glaring lack of governance.
Yes, he has great charisma and photographs well. But all that is meaningless to Al Qaida, the North Koreans and the Iranians. They could care less. We needed a strong leader. Unfortunately, all we got is a wonderful and inspiring speech giver.
After the party hats and streamers are packed away, after all the hype and glory that the MSM (main stream media) has been fawning over him daily fades away, you will see what I mean.
I hope I am wrong. Time will tell, my friend.
ALRIGHT EVERYBODY, LET’S MOVE ON.
Think Straight is, unfortunately, right on target. President Obama comes on the scene as a novice with little accomplishments and no reputation. His Senatorial achievements were pitifully negligible and his campaign was a potpourri of nebulous promises. He’s rather handsome, intelligent and an eloquent speaker. it will take him several years to learn the job and some time to disengage from his Democratic puppetmasters. Woe onto us, as the critical decision for the next few years will be made by Obama staffers with their own political agendas.
#6 and everyone out there who wants to no why bush didn’t free pollard is because Hashem didn’t want him to be freed!!!!!!!!!!! DUH!!!!!!!
Saying Hashem wants or doesn’t want something with such authority is something EVERY actual prophet and leader were very careful about. If you are getting navua, please reveal yourself-we could use Moshiach now!
BS”D
21: No, it is realizing that Hashem rules the world and when our hishtadlus is not rewarded with positive results it is Hashem’s ratzon that this be the case.
It is one thing if no one ever spoke out about Pollard and nothing was done and we expected a ness, and another thing when so much was done both begashmius and beruchnius and the result was not what we expected.
