Israel Police’s new college opened in Beit Shemesh about two months ago. The department’s senior command explains the new college serves 3,000 members of the force daily and the plan is that using simulators, new technology, classrooms and teaching new methodology and the college will change the face of Israel Police towards becoming increasingly professional and sensitive.
Israel Police is working hard to change its image the persons in charge of the college are optimistic. It is explained that “officers must be versatile” for one moment they might encounter a terrorist on the street then they will have to deal with citizens.
It is stressed that in the past an officer might not review some of the basic skills throughout a 20-year career but today, the new generation of policepersons will constantly be reviewing and re-learning and constantly updating.
The first class of the new generation officers began a month ago and the department is hopeful that these junior officers will lay the groundwork for the new Israel Police.
