Hundreds of demonstrators marched through Midtown Manhattan Saturday to protest Israel’s sending ground troops into the Gaza Strip.
Beginning at 1 p.m., the protesters held a rally in Times Square and went across town to the Israeli Consulate – near the United Nations.
In one of the largest recent protests in the city about the Middle Eastern violence, marchers called for an end to shooting and referred to the Israeli military actions in Gaza as a “massacre.”
Dozens of police officers maintained crowd control and redirected traffic, as marchers took over the sidewalks of Second Avenue and chanted “Free Palestine” for blocks.
Meanwhile, the United Nations scheduled emergency consultations for Motzei Shabbos to address the escalating violence in the region.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and several Arab foreign ministers planned to head to New York to urge the council to adopt a resolution condemning Israel and demanding a halt to the Israelis bombing campaign.
The New York City protest was one of dozens of worldwide demonstrations regarding the situation in Gaza.

I wonder how these mishugina peaceniks would feel if rockets were constantly coming down in their neighborhoods and on their heads??????
No matter what Israel does, the world condemns them.
Better Israel should do what is good for Israel, and let the world condemn to their hearts content.
Hopefully, this is happening now.
Rally to support Israel:
Tomorrow Jan 4th at 11:00AM in front of the UN. There is going to be a protest and support for Israel for it’s right to defend itself.
Please tell friends.
first of all, all these protests are irrelevant. We should rather stay home and storm Shamaim with our tefillos and teshuva!
I would like to make a compromise between #4 & #3. First ask your local Orthodox Jewish rabbi before you go. In Ft. Lauderdale the pro-Israel protesters were almost attacked by the Arab trash. YM”SH!!!!
#4 Storm Shamaim with our tefillos and teshuva… But do it standing in front of the UN and let the world see us have a rally where we stand looking up at Hashem and pray for the safety of our people.
#3 go for it. Lets just hope our people attend. how embarrasing it will be if when the arabs protest tens of thousands show up to support. however, when it is an israel issue hardly any jews show up and that is an old story and a very sad one as well. And what a Chillul Hashem
to # 4, when esav was coming to attack Yakov, did he just storm shamiyim with prayer, or did he also, do action. I am here in America, and although davening is something everyone should do, i think getting out of your house, and showing people that although your not in Israel fighting, you are doing what you can to show your support for them.
to #5, i did ask, and i have the endorsement of him, and if you would like me to call your rabbi, i will.
if we are united, we are strong
ps, this is mrs. kneidel
TO NUMBER 3 4 STOP TALKING SO MUCH ABOUT PRAYING AND I HAVE A GOOD IDEA FOR YOU YOU GO PRAY!!!!!!!!!
to #9, i didn’t hear of any rally’s , and i didn’t go, so tom i will show my support for Israel and for our brothers fighting on the front line for our country, and your welcomed to join
first of all, all these protests are irrelevant. We should rather stay home and storm Shamaim with our tefillos and teshuva!
YOU CAN DO BOTH…….
to #6 and #7, i hope to see you tom and please pass this rally info along to everyone who you feel can make it as well.
thanks
I strongly agree with the “Free Palestine” sign on the picture. The problem is that its missing two words: “From Palestinians”.
good one nmbr 14..
I think thatthe only one we have to stand in front of is Hashem-and pour our tefilot to the ONE AND ONLY and let Hashem be the One to show them who we are the holy nation…. AM ISRAEL CHAI!AMEN..
