NY Residents: Good Riddance to ’08 Bank Statements

sha.jpgNew York City residents are being invited to say goodbye to their bad memories of 2008 and the financial meltdown by shredding their worthless stock certificates and depressing bank statements.

Sunday is the second annual Good Riddance Day.

Organizers of the city’s New Year’s Eve party are setting up shredders in Father Duffy Square, the northern end of Times Square where reduced-price Broadway theater tickets are sold.

Participants looking to make clean starts to 2009 also can shred photos of their cheating fiances.

A sledgehammer is being provided to those who’d prefer to have their lingering 2008 memories smashed to pieces.

Last year, people smashed their annoying cell phones and shredded lousy report cards.

  1. Don’t shred those documents!
You may need them to claim losses on your tax returns for this year and for future years’ rollovers of losses and for any future IRS audits.
