A Kiryas Yoel group is seeking to open a girls’ school in part of the a vacant warehouse as a companion to its boys’ Yeshiva on Larkin Drive.
The Town of Monroe Planning Board will hold a public hearing at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on a proposal to set up temporary quarters inside the building at Bailey Farm Road and Melody Lane.
Board Chairman Charles Finnerty said Thursday that the school would occupy about a third of the warehouse and serve as many as 350 girls. There is already a boys’ Yeshiva set up in a similar way nearby. That institution is located inside the former Manhattan Beer warehouse on Larkin Drive.
