The Big Question: Felder, Lazar, Greenfield

01.jpgNow that Mayor Bloomberg has officially announced his intentions to have term limits extended, there is one question on the minds of the residents of Boro Park & Flatbush: Will Joe Lazar continue his race for NYC Councilman Simcha Felder’s seat?

Joe Lazar, a first-time candidate for public office and a retired government employee, told the New York Sun in an exclusive last week, that he intends to run against incumbent Councilman Simcha Felder if term limits are extended. “I have every reason to continue running, no matter what happens,” Mr. Lazar told the New York Sun. Of all the candidates interviewed by the New York Sun, Joe Lazar was the only candidate in New York City who went on record as actively opposing an incumbent member of the city council.

In contrast, the other candidate for this council seat, community activist and attorney David Greenfield said “Councilman Simcha Felder has done an outstanding job as our representative in the city council. If term limits are extended I will do everything I can to ensure that Simcha is re-elected.”

jl1.jpgWhen asked his thoughts on the potential Felder vs Lazar race, David Greenfield predicted “Simcha Felder will win that race by a landslide.”

As of this posting, no statements have been given by either Felder or Lazar since Bloomberg’s announcement.

  1. The City Council still needs to override term limits in order for any of this discussion to become relevant. Its likely, but not certain, they will. If they do, Felder is a shoo-in for re-elction.

  2. I’m def. voting for Lazar.
Felder can very likely win, but he’s not a “shoo-in”… myself and MANY others will not be voting for him.
As a matter of fact, I recall a lot of opposition against Felder on YW comments.

So let us dispose of the vote (and save all that money), and replace it with an online survey on YW!

  4. #4 I cant quite tell if you’re making fun of me or not.
If you are… I was just pointing out how I’m not the only one who would NOT vote for Felder, lots of others wouldn’t either.
But… Not a bad idea with your poll idea 🙂 hehe

  5. personally, even if felder were not running or not relevant, or if i would want to register a protest vote against him, lazar would not be my choice. David Greenfield would get my vote. he seems to be more bound to jewish matters of principle, and values in general, than lazar…

  6. it seems sad that all we have is a choice between simcha and dovs choice

we need fresh frum faces who are not sold to the highest bidders
but to reiterate the earlier comment i would not vote simcha ahgain
