A somber and heart-wrenching levaya took place on Sunday afternoon for Natasha (Sara) Saada A”H and her two young daughters, Diana (7) A”H and Debra (5) A”H, who were tragically killed in a devastating car accident on Shabbos afternoon near Ocean Parkway and Quentin Road. Hundreds of mourners gathered at Shomrei Hadas Chapels in Boro Park to give kavod acharon to the victims, whose lives were cut short in a senseless tragedy that has shaken the Flatbush Sephardic community and beyond.
Rabbi Hillel Haber, Rabbi Yosef Ozeri, and Rabbi Shlomo Diamond delivered heartbreaking hespedim, offering words of chizuk and mourning the immeasurable loss. Leading Sephardic Rabbonim from across the community were in attendance, standing in solidarity with the grieving family.
The levaya also drew a large presence from Flatbush Hatzolah, many of whom were on the scene of the accident and returned to pay their final respects. A massive NYPD, Flatbush and Boro Park Shomrim presence was also seen outside the chapel, ensuring a smooth levaya.
Among those in attendance were Mayor Eric Adams, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, as well as NYC Council members and New York State Assembly representatives.
The horrific accident took place on Shabbos afternoon when a vehicle driven by 32-year-old Miriam Yarimi struck the victims as they crossed Ocean Parkway near Quentin Road. Natasha A”H and her daughters were pronounced niftar at the scene, while four-year-old Pinchas Raphael Ben Sarah is in stable condition at Maimonides Medical Center. Klal Yisroel is urged to continue davening for his refuah sheleimah.
The niftarim leave behind a grieving husband and father, Sidney Saada yb”l, as well as their surviving sons, Philip and Jacob. Natasha is also survived by her loving parents, Jack and Shahin Assil, and her siblings, Anoshka Saada, David Assil, and Sammy Assil.
Following the levaya, the kevurah is set to take place in Eretz Yisroel on Har Hamenuchos on Monday.
The driver of the vehicle, Miriam Yarimi, has been charged with three counts of second-degree manslaughter, three counts of criminally negligent homicide, and multiple additional charges related to reckless driving and traffic violations.
In the wake of this heartbreaking tragedy, Rabbi Raphael Netanel, a prominent Sephardic askan and leading community leader, has emerged as a pillar of strength and compassion. With unwavering dedication, Rabbi Netanel has been at the forefront of supporting the grieving family, ensuring that every detail—big and small—has been meticulously attended to with care and sensitivity.
Additionally, the family thanks NYPD Community Affairs Chief Richie Taylor, whose tireless efforts around the clock have been nothing short of extraordinary. Additionally, special thanks are due to CAU Commissioner Fred Kreizman for his steadfast involvement and assistance.
