President Donald Trump said Sunday that “I’m not joking” about trying to serve a third term, the clearest indication he is considering ways to breach a constitutional barrier against continuing to lead the country after his second term ends in early 2029.
“There are methods which you could do it,” Trump said in a telephone interview with NBC News.
He also said “it is far too early to think about it.”
The 22nd Amendment, which was added to the Constitution in 1951 after President Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected four times in a row, says “no person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.”
NBC’s Kristen Welker asked Trump if one potential avenue to a third term was having Vice President JD Vance run for the top job and “then pass the baton to you.”
“Well, that’s one,” Trump responded. “But there are others too. There are others.”
“Can you tell me another?” she asked.
“No,” Trump replied.
Trump has mused before about serving longer than two terms before, generally with jokes to friendly audiences.
“Am I allowed to run again?” he said during a House Republican retreat in January.

Why oh why does he insist on giving his opponents ammunition?
They would not of elected Roosevelt if not for the bad things going on then, I think the two term presidency is more then just an amendment its part of the law
If a world war breaks out than he can be president a third term.
He would have to scrap the Constitution and declare himself king. It should be remembered that when the elected “presidents” (the actual title was “Imperator”) of the Roman Republic decided they wanted to be de facto kings, it took several centuries for them to stop acting like “presidents” and start acting like “kings”, even though for Julius Caesar on they acted like kings.
The most likely result would be Trump and MAGA would be banished, and we would get a new WOKE government that would take all of Trump’s precedents and use them to crack down on their enemies.
WHY am i not surprised?! oh right. its trump. that’s why.
Why the yellow journalism?
He isn’t trying to “breach the Constitution” but rather to see how it could be done constitutionally.
The mere mention of this foolishness could precipitate a civil war. Hashem yerachem. And how young would His Excellency The Donald be in 2028?
Hmmm. I wonder what the progressive innovator, Mike Bl$$mberg has to say about this.
