Argentinian President Javier Milei, a well-known oheiv Yisroel, took a moment during his visit to the U.S. capital to speak with Rabbi Levi Shemtov, Executive Vice President of American Friends of Lubavitch (Chabad).

Rabbi Shemtov presented President Milei with a miniature replica of the Congressional Gold Medal awarded to the Lubavitcher Rebbe in recognition of his unparalleled influence on Jewish life worldwide.

Rabbi Shemtov also shared with the president the Rebbe’s perspective on tzedakah, chessed, and social welfare, highlighting the Torah’s timeless guidance on fostering kindness and improving society.

President Milei, who has spoken many times about his deep appreciation for Yiddishkeit, expressed his gratitude and admiration for the Rebbe’s legacy. He spoke warmly about the brachos of the Rebbe, to which he feels deeply connected. It is well known that Milei has davened many times at the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s Ohel in Queens, NY.

Also present at the meeting were Gerardo Werthein, Argentina’s Foreign Minister, and Hon. Ilan Goldfajn, President of the Inter-American Development Bank, both of whom have been involved in fostering Argentina’s strong ties with the Jewish community.
