For Muslim Arabs, Yom Yerushalayim carries significance too and they began their observance of the day early Wednesday morning, 28 Iyar. Arabs began pelting police with rocks. According to reports there were many involved in the assaults and police had to send a sizable force armed with shields and body armor to bring the attacks under control.
It was first reported that the terrorists were holed up in al-Aqsa Mosque but a police spokesman later released a Twitter message announcing the situation is under control and Baruch Hashem there are no injuries.
It is clear the attacks began early in an effort to cause sufficient provocation to compel police to announce Har Habayis would be closed to all non-Muslim visitors on Jerusalem Day but police did not. Har Habayis remains open to visitors.
10:20: Tenacious in their goal of taking control of Hay Habayis on Yom Yerushalayim, the terrorists escalated the violent attacks until police closed the area to all non-Muslims. At least one policeman was injured by rocks in the escalated attacks.
In the video we can see the Jews walking as the Arabs continue following, despite the police presence, shouting “Ala Akbar”.
