CORRUPT: Anti-Israel Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson Under Fire For Secret Gift Stash in City Hall

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is facing growing scrutiny and accusations of corruption after a damning report from the City of Chicago Office of Inspector General (OIG) exposed a long-standing but secretive practice of storing high-end gifts in a hidden “Gift Room” at City Hall. The report details how expensive items, including Hugo Boss cufflinks, Givenchy, Gucci, and Kate Spade handbags, a Mont Blanc pen, and size 14 men’s shoes, were kept out of public view instead of being properly reported as city property.

In a covert operation, OIG personnel requested access to the logbook that was supposedly available to the public—a request that was flatly denied. When a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was filed, the Mayor’s Office failed to respond, effectively blocking access to the records. It was only after a formal request that a spreadsheet listing the gifts was finally provided.

Inspector General Deborah Witzburg did not mince words about the troubling implications of the Mayor’s Office’s lack of transparency. “When gifts are changing hands—perhaps literally—in a windowless room in City Hall, there is no opportunity for oversight and public scrutiny of the propriety of such gifts, the identities or intentions of the gift-givers, or what it means for gifts like whiskey, jewelry, handbags, and size 14 men’s shoes to be accepted ‘on behalf of the City,’” she said.

The report further revealed that when OIG officials attempted to conduct an unannounced inspection of the Gift Room, they were once again denied access.

OIG’s recommendations were straightforward: the Mayor’s Office should adhere to public reporting requirements for gifts and allow for unannounced inspections. However, the administration’s response was lukewarm, agreeing to grant access only with “a properly scheduled appointment.”
