Williamsburg: Massive Crowd Turns Out For Political Rally

IMG_2227.jpgThe Williamsburg community was treated to a political spectacular with the ringing endorsement of many leading Rabbonim and Askonim gathering on Sunday in the center the Rabbi Yoel Teitelbaum Square. The lifelong Askan Rabbi Leib Glanz fired up the crowd with exhortations for every one to participate in Tuesdays elections.

Congressman Anthony Weiner ,a leading Mayoral candidate and friend of the Chassidishe World demanded that State government do more to solve the housing crunch crisis, lack of City jobs for Chareidi Jewry and job protection for Sabbath observers. His biggest applause came when he alluded to the protection of the sacred practice of Milah in all its tradition as protected by the 1st amendment to the Constitution.

IMG_2230.jpgThe main attraction was the ringing endorsement of Daniel Squadron, a prominent attorney and politically active Askan. His good work for Senator Schumer and other government agencies has earned him the endorsement of not only the Senator but also Mayor Bloomberg and the New York Times for his forward thinking and progressive politics.

He promised to search ways to improve the health and safety for the woman and children in his District and to provide whatever resources necessary to address the many needs of the beautiful Kehiloth in South Brooklyn.

The thousands of participants were enthused with the hope that they have finally been heard by the powers that be and would see real progress in the days to come.

  1. How naive! All politicians love the Jewish vote; very few love the Jewish moral code. Look at where they stand on toeva in its various conteporary forms, not to mention “partial birth aborton” (=murder).
Reflect on the parsha of last Shabbos: bribery – in whatever form – blinds. We can ask our government to enforce at least minimal moral standards. We should not ask it to pay our tuition!

  2. Watta Kiddish HaShem! when thousands of ppl gathered last night on the street to show support for the reall Askunam, showing that a politician CANT only come to Williamsburg when he needs us, he’ll have to be with us all the time. & whoever that gonna support our enemies (politicians who are surrounded with Sonai Yisroeilim) will loose big time! (like whoever who’s with the biggest enemy “Vito Lopez”).

come all & show support on TUESDAY SEP. 9 & VOTE FOR:
    Congress, Ed Towns.
    Assembly, Joseph Lentol.
    State Senate, Dilan.
& of course for State Senate, DANIAL SQUADRON!!!

Let’s Anwser the “Williamsburg’s Answer” for everybody!

  3. I hate to be the “downer” here … but why do ppl in Williamsburg have to be told who to vote for. Its like no one has minds of their own.
In a recent past election, I noticed the Williamsburg community endorse a politician that the rest of the “frum” community wouldn’t go near , but naively ppl in that community went to vote for that person bec. some rich bigshot (who stands a lot to gain from a win) told them to…
    its just sad..

  4. intresting i was at the rally yesterday and i must say it was quiet an a shame their was very littel attendece .this rally was not endorced by any rav or kehila leiders .it was a sort of bashing rally ,not positive .
it would be great if the rally organisers would have 1 thing in common “bulid yourself and not build yourself & at the same time bash someone els”.allso why you dont mention that sqwadran is runing against a long time state senator who servers very well the williamsburg community.
