Sullivan County Sheriff Tours Special Needs Camp at Human Care Services [PHOTOS]

On Sunday, the newly-established Human Care Services (HCS) summer camp for children with special needs in Fallsburg was the site of a vibrant and heartwarming event. The camp’s grounds, formerly the Raleigh Hotel, buzzed with excitement as Sullivan County’s Sheriff, Undersheriff, and several local elected officials arrived to celebrate this remarkable initiative. The occasion was highlighted by the playing of the national anthem and an enthusiastic welcome for the dignitaries, setting a festive tone.

Sheriff Mike Schiff and Undersheriff Eric Chaboty were greeted with heartfelt songs from the campers, underscoring the spirit of the day. They were joined by Sullivan County legislators Joe Perrello and Amanda Ward, as well as Fallsburg Town Supervisor Mike Bensimon. Also present was Abe Rosenberg, a prominent community figure in Sullivan County. The officials were not just impressed but deeply moved by what they witnessed, expressing their excitement about a camp that, while only lasting two months, promises to leave an indelible mark on the children and their families.

The HCS camp, which accommodates over 250 children across two separate campuses for boys and girls, has made significant strides in providing a supportive and enriching environment. The camp’s infrastructure includes multiple buildings, each designed to cater to the specific needs of the campers. Recently, three additional buildings were constructed to further enhance the camp’s facilities.

These new structures were brought to life by the dedicated hands and hearts of Shabsie Mizrachi and his team at Fast Build. Their rapid yet meticulous work reflects a commitment to creating a space where children can thrive. During the visit, the officials toured the specialty rooms, marveling at the customized individual programs tailored to meet the unique needs of each child. This attention to detail and personalized care is a testament to the camp’s mission of making a lasting, positive impact on the lives of these special children.
