BIKE4KEF, an iconic event in North West London’s calendar which took place this past Sunday, remains fresh in the community’s mind. This year’s slogan, “TIME4KEF,” highlighted the multifaceted nature of KEF, providing families of children with disabilities with essential TIME for respite. Our incredible army of volunteers generously give of their TIME, providing the children with TIME for fun, friendship and support. BIKE4KEF is the annual TIME for members of the community to come together to ride, fundraise and support KEF.
Over 260 cyclists dedicated their TIME and effort to participate in this year’s ride, choosing from three routes—50km, 100km, and 100 miles. Together, they covered more than 21,000km, each pedal stroke supporting KEF. The event was meticulously organised, with a robust support system including marshals, medics, mechanics, and pit stops, ensuring a seamless experience for all participants. Riders even passed by Pardes House School, where enthusiastic students cheered on the riders, especially proud to see their headteacher, Rabbi Sager, among the cyclists.
Despite the preceding days’ rainy and grey weather, the day of the ride was bright and sunny, and North West London was filled with excitement. Hendon Park marked the triumphant finish line, where riders were warmly welcomed by their families and KEF children. Excitement and joy permeated the park as the exhausted yet proud riders arrived, greeted by KEF’s Emcee from a suspended platform. KEF participants who rode received particularly heartwarming cheers. The celebration extended to a range of activities, including a fantastic BBQ, music, a bike stunt show, and a carousel, making it a fantastic family day.
The community’s support and positive energy were palpable, both leading up to the event and on the day itself, resulting in an impressive £700,000+ raised from over 12,000 unmatched donations. BIKE4KEF is a unique fundraising event that give the riders a feeling of belonging to the KEF family. This overwhelming success and the community’s outpouring of love and support mean the world to everyone at KEF. The organisation is immensely grateful to its event sponsors and the dedicated BIKE4KEF committee, whose hard work ensured the event’s success.
Feedback from the riders has been overwhelmingly positive. One rider shared, “The vibe of this event and seeing the kids who benefit from this unique organisation makes me feel humble. We put in 2-3 weeks of fundraising and training, but others face daily challenges. It’s a privilege to help them.” Another rider, returning after a few years, expressed, “I felt truly emotional seeing the crowds—people from all walks of life together with so many happy smiles. It was a true celebration with the sun shining for KEF!”
An emotional message from a KEF mother attending the event: ‘It was such a special day, it was so heartwarming to see the whole community coming out to support KEF and all of our children and families. We are once again, left speechless after this wonderful day filled with so much love, laughter and generosity.”
“TIME4KEF” brought together riders, donors, volunteers, and KEF families, all united by the common goal of giving TIME to support those in need within the community. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed their time to BIKE4KEF, enabling us to continue providing essential respite and support services.
