In a conversation with an expert in the field, Dr. Vishnu Teja, professional training in Dentistry provides a wide range of options, allowing professionals to work in research, teaching, private practice, and other areas. “Dentistry is a traditional field, but it’s also one of the most promising, with increasing growth opportunities,” added Dr. Teja.

Considering this growth, trends are constantly emerging in the current dental landscape. Regarding this, the Doctor, who is a General Dentist, Consultant Periodontist, Essential Community Provider (ECP), Active Medic, Active Clinical Researcher, and a Delegate of the Virginia Dental Association (with national and international experience), states that one of the main demands today is Invisalign, a method that helps tooth movement without braces.

On the subject, Dr. Vishnu continues: “We cannot forget to mention the improvement of all aspects of dentistry to make it a better experience, providing painless and less stressful treatment. I would also like to mention geriatric dentistry, one of my main specializations, where I work with patient populations aged 60 and over.”

Vishnu has various experiences in the field. The doctor holds advanced residency training in General Dentistry, a master’s degree in Dental Surgery, and a bachelor’s degree in Dental Surgery. Currently, she is a General Dentist at Tusk Dental Co., mainly serving patients aged 65 and older.

“The average age of my patients is 65 years or older, addressing dental issues that require in-depth attention to their medical issues. In this work, I need to ensure that patients’ dental problems and needs are addressed appropriately and in a timely manner. Additionally, I am responsible for managing and operating the clinic completely,” Dr. Vishnu told us.

Entering this aspect of dentistry, a professional in this field must consider some important aspects, especially in dealing with people daily. Dentists must provide well-being and tranquility to those seeking their services.

Thus, professionals in this field must be sensitive and empathetic to others’ conditions, always in an ethical and respectful manner, showing passion and love for what they do. For Dr. Vishnu, all these aspects are essential, and therefore, she continues: “I can describe myself as passionate, eager to learn, results-oriented, ambitious, and very determined.”

The specialist has accumulated several important awards in her curriculum. Among them, we can mention: university gold medal in her post-graduation, best postgraduate student, and best performance in clinical prosthodontics. Additionally, she is a Delegate at the Virginia Dental Association Dental Days at the Capitol, representing Richmond for over 1500 dentists.

Talking to the doctor on the subject, it is evident that the sector, which continues to develop greatly, for all the reasons mentioned, has been attracting more and more people willing to build their careers as dentists. Regarding this, Dr. Vishnu adds: “Increasing the number of dentists will help us go beyond what is achievable. Nowadays, patients often have to wait a long time to get their appointments, even in an emergency situation. Thus, such a crisis will be resolved.”

According to the doctor, the increase in dentists will also reduce the increasing costs of treatment, making better access for all sectors of communities possible.

She, who has over 17 published articles, collaborations in books, patents, and various publications in her curriculum, recognizes the importance of continuing to study and improve in this market. “Those already in the dentistry market and those just starting out should not neglect their studies. It is essential to stay updated on new procedures and studies, aiming to offer even more credibility, innovation, and quality to your patients,” concludes Dr. Vishnu.
