tiblisi.jpgSpecial to Yeshiva World News: With the new developments in Georgia now that the political situation is stabilizing, many of the Jewish Gori refugees are now returning to their homes.  Most of the refugees that have not left the country, however, are still staying in Tblisi. Last week, the Vaad LeHatzolas Nidchei Yisroel shlichim returned to Georgia to continue their Kiruv and Chinuch efforts.

YWN contacted the staff members of the Vaad LeHatzolas Nidchei Yisroel working on the ground in Tblisi in the wake of Russia’s invasion and spoke to Rabbi Avimelech Rozenblatt .  “We are starting our school year on the 8th of September and Boruch Hashem we have thirty new enrollees.  Also, we are working hard on a Torah seminar for the students and their families, which will take place shortly,”  said Rabbi Rozenblatt.

“Tiferet Tzvi was started by the Vaad LeHatzolas Nidchei Yisroel in Tblisi in 1990, and they anticipate possibly having as many as 140 students this September,” remarked Rabbi Boruch Lovett, the executive director of the Vaad LeHatzolas Nidchei Yisroel headquartered in Brooklyn. The Yeshiva is an elementary school and high school and is housed in separate buildings for boys and for girls. The school has a strong religious studies and secular studies program, with Davening each morning. The Yeshiva is located at 12 Tumanyan Street in Tblisi,
Georgia.

“There are numerous alumnus of Tiferet Tzvi now living in Israel, there are girls studying in Migdal Ohr, and Beit Ulpana among others. Six students have gone to the United States and are studying in Yeshiva of Staten Island and many went on to Ner Yisroel in Baltimore,” remarked Rabbi Ariel Levin, the Menahel of the Yeshiva.

The school is in need of supplies, particularly Tefilin, Sefardic Taleisim, Kippas, Mezuzos, Russian language Seforim (for Sefaradim), pencils, and notebooks. The school  has some computers but could use additional computers.  Donations of items and funds can be forwarded to Vaad LeHotzalas Nidchei Yisroel, 1566 Coney Island Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11230.  You can mark the items and funds for Yeshiva Tiferet Tzvi.
