Another 22 Years for Convicted Torrance Terrorist

court hammer3.jpgA terrorist in a federal penitentiary for plotting attacks on Southern California military and Jewish sites has been sentenced to an additional 22 years in state prison for a gas station robbery.

Levar Haney Washington of Torrance was sentenced Monday by Torrance Superior Court Judge Mark Arnold for a 2005 Chevron gas station robbery.

Prosecutors say he was part of a prison gang cell of radical Muslims that planned terrorist attacks and intended to finance them through robberies.

The 30-year-old Washington was sentenced in December to 22 years in federal prison for a weapons charge and conspiring to wage war against the United States.

  1. “Background:

Levar Haney Washington is 25 years old, and is from Los Angeles.

Washington converted to Islam while serving three years in the prison for a robbery conviction.

He is one of four men accused in an alleged plot to attack Southern California synagogues and military facilities. The other men are Hammad Riaz Samana, 21; Kevin James, 29; and, Gregory Vernon Patterson, 21.

Washington and Patterson were arrested on 5 July 2005 by police in Torrance, a suburb southwest of Los Angeles, for investigation of robbing the gas stations.

In September 2005, they pleaded not guilty to federal terrorism charges.”

Why am I not surprised that he’s a black Muslim.
