PHOTOS: UPDATED – **FOUND** Catskills Hatzolah Conducting Search For Missing

YW-Woodlake Search-35.jpg10:15PM EST: (UPDATES & PHOTO LINK IN EXTENDED ARTICLE) Catskills Hatzolah has initiated a large search for a missing 91-year-old male in Woodridge, NY (Catskills). They are looking for a man who goes by the name Yankel (Jacob) Solomon. He was wearing a grey jacket, hat, light colored shirt – and last seen at approximately 7:30PM on Monday night at Woodlake Village. He has a slight case of dementia as well.

Sullivan County Sheriff Department, New York State Police, Fallsburg Police, and local Fire Departments are assisting in the search.

The Catskills Hatzolah Search Coordinator is reaching out to the YWN readership for people available to assist in the search. If you are available, please contact. (Please see update below)

If you have any information on the whereabouts of this person, please call Hatzolah ASAP at 718-230-1000.

UPDATE 12:30AM EST: Catskills Hatzolah is now advising that they have sufficient resources and manpower for the search – and are asking anyone who is not on the scene to please not come. Should additional manpower be required, YWN will be notified – and an alert will be posted.

s.jpgUPDATE 1:00PM EST: Thanks to the massive response of the Woodridge Fire Department, Sullivan County Sheriff Department, New York State Police, Catskills Hatzolah, Misaskim Units, Chaverim of Monsey & Boro Park, Forest Rangers, Sullivan County OEM and many others – R’ Yankel Solomon has Boruch Hashem been found.

According to YWN reporters (who participated in the search), good Samaritan’s assisting with ATV’s fanned out across the area distributing flyer’s with the information on the missing person. Flyer’s were given to the maintenance workers at “Gitty Gardens” at approximately 9:00AM, and the workers said they would help by searching the forest behind them. The forest behind Gitty Gardens is the same forest behind Woodlake Village.

Sure enough, one of the maintenance workers from Gitty Gardens found Mr. Solomon in the forest at approximately 11:30AM, and ATV’s were brought to gain access to the area.

Catskill Hatzolah Paramedics responded and found him to be in stable condition, Boruch Hashem. An IV was started, and he was placed on a backboard. The patient needed to be carried out of the wooded area – and through/across a swamp approximately 3 feet deep. He was transported to the hospital for observation.

The coordination between local, city, and state agencies was a true Kiddush Hashem. A tremendous thanks must be given to all the people who assisted in the search – especially Sullivan County Sheriff Mike Schiff, and Fallsburg Police Chief Simmy Williams, who were on the scene until 3AM; and then returned again at 8:00AM.

A special note of thanks must be given to Lipa Rosenberg, Tuvia Gramer, Shloimy Erenenfeld, and other volunteers from the “YWN ATV Search Team”.
