Sullivan County Sheriff’s detectives Sunday arrested two Brooklyn youths on charges of making false calls to 911.
The teens, ages 17 and 16, not identified because of age, were charged with calling the Sullivan County 911 Center on August 15 and falsely reporting a fire at the Green Hills housing development on Route 55 in Ferndale.
The calls were traced to a cell phone that was in the possession of one of the youths.
Both were charged with falsely reporting an incident in the second degree, a felony, and released to their parents to appear in Liberty Town Court.

This should be a warning to parents whose kids have scanners that they program with Hatzolo police and fire frequencies.Make sure they NEVER make a call just so they can hear it broadcast on the 2-way radio.
Since when do minors who are definitely not members of Chaveirim, Shomrim, Hatzoloh, and Misaskim doing with police scanners? Are they planning to perform CPR on a patient?
Its pure loshon hara for someone to listen in to a scanner on hatzolah frequency
These teens should be sentenced to community service in a burn unit. Let them see what a damage a fire can do then maybe they will understand the seriousness of their shtus.
I don’t think it it loshon hora it maybe worse to hear somebody G-D forbid Dying.
Who said they had any type of Scanner? And arresting them? I think it’s a bit much. I think the best punishment should be that they have to pay for the expense of the fire dept. to come down. (or aleast the parents)
The article did not mention scanners. it said cell phones. we all love to hock, dont we?
well, I am glad the prank backfired!
Why do people think they had scanners??
And another thing, who says these people were Frum? It says “Two Brooklyn youths,” nothing about their religion.
come on out there and wake up and smell the coffe we are sure that lots of hatzolah members listened to scaners as kids and evan ran to calls to help out and became members later. kids are kids and parents should teach them not to make false alarms.
