Parking Rules Suspended in Parts of Brooklyn

np.jpgThe Department of Transportation is suspending alternate-side parking restrictions in several Brooklyn neighborhoods while it changes signs.

Starting today, alternate side of the street regulations will be suspended in parts of Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens and other areas west of Court Street.

The rules are being lifted for the next three to five weeks, so the city can install signs with new cleaning regulations.

The new rules cut the window for street cleaning in some areas from three hours twice a week to 90 minutes once a week. In some commercial areas, street cleaning will be done more often.

Meters and other parking rules are still in effect.

Starting next Monday, the new street cleaning rules take effect in parts of Boerum Hill, Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill and Gowanus. The rules were suspended there last month so new signs could be installed.
