  1. where are the tens of thousands of yidden to attend the levaya of ACTUAL Jews??? 74 jews intermarry every day in the US alone!!

The world is crashing in around us and we’re walking around like zombies.

  2. markjeremy – where’d you get that figure from? 74 a day? there’s about 5 million jews in america, 4 million are the type who would intermarry, and about 1/4 of them are unmarried probably, so thats about 1 million if I am right in my cheshbon.

  3. a levaya for even one safer torah is equel to going to a levava for every jew in the world! chas-v shalom- that is how important torah is, and how terible it is when a sefer torrah is burned r”l!!!

  4. markjeremy: why not feel the pain of a burned sefer torah instead of just using it as a tool to take a poke at people. Its such a sad incident, I think Hashem is demanding some tshuva

the gemara [in m.k.] compares the lavaya of a jew, to mattan torah concerning the proper respect due to the niftar.
the loss of a jew is compared to the loss of a sefer torah.

  6. I don’t know the answer to this question, but I wonder if the same crowds and mix of Litvish and Chasidshe Chareidim came to the levaya of the Bochurim from Merkaz Harav that were murdered, Hashem Yikom Damam.

The Gemara in Makos discusses those who have mistaken priorities and stand up for a Sefer Torah, but not for a Talmid Chochom, who is a living Sefer Torah.

May Klal Yisroel be zoche never to feel such pain again…….

  7. #5 – I agree. I think Hashem _IS_ demanding teshuva!! When 90% of the Jewish people have no clue about Hashem, don’t you think it’s about time we cared enough to tell them about it?

Read the Gemara, Shabbos 54b/55a – it spells it out. Doesn’t matter how much torah you’re learning or how many levayos you go to; if your neighbor is sinning, YOU’RE in trouble!!!
