A Jewish mother and her child in Washington D.C. experienced a distressing incident when a man obstructed a bike lane and subjected them to harassment and anti-Semitic abuse.

The mother-of-three found herself facing an unlawful driver who refused to yield the bike lane for her and her toddler as they attempted to make their way to a school pickup. When she requested that the man move his large SUV out of the lane to ensure their safety, he callously responded, “I don’t give a [expletive removed] about your safety. Your life is not my concern.”

In response to the escalating situation, the mother, determined to document the encounter, began filming the incident. Unfortunately, the woman and her child, who was calmly seated in the front basket of her cargo trike, remained blocked by the man’s sizable vehicle, obstructing the entire road.

She explained, “I could not go around without biking into oncoming traffic, hence asking him to move.”

In a distressing turn of events, the man subsequently inquired if she was Jewish. Upon confirming her Jewish identity, he unleashed a maniacal laugh while pointing a finger at her and declaring, “I knew you were a Jew. You people are the devil. You are the devil.”

Inside his car, he instructed a woman to “grab the camera” before directing derogatory language at the mother, referring to her as “trash” and “entitled.”

Despite obtaining the man’s license plate number, the mother chose not to disclose it publicly, believing that doxxing him would not contribute positively to the situation.

Instead, she is advocating for “better protection, education, and enforcement for bike lanes” while emphasizing the need for “awareness that this genre of anti-Semitism is still out there.”

The incident resulted in the mother and her toddler being forced to wait for approximately 15 minutes until the man finally vacated the bike lane, allowing them to proceed with their journey to pick up her other two children from school.
