U.S. Congressman Seeks Urgent Assistance For Americans Trying To leave Israel Amid Escalating Conflict

Following close coordination with the Sullivan County Jewish Community Council, U.S. Congressman Marcus J. Molinaro has written a heartfelt letter addressed to the U.S. Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, expressing deep concern and called for immediate action to assist American citizens currently in Israel amid the ongoing war against Hamas. The congressman represents many constituents who are among those stranded in Israel.

The letter comes in the wake of recent deadly attacks by Hamas and the subsequent declaration of war by Israel, which have left many innocent civilians in Israel and American citizens caught in the crossfire. Congressman Molinaro’s primary focus is on ensuring the safety and swift return of his constituents and other Americans who find themselves in a perilous situation.

“I am incredibly concerned for several of my constituents who are currently in Israel and need assistance returning to the United States,” the letter states. It goes on to express disgust at the ongoing attacks against innocent people in Israel and highlights the tragic toll the conflict has taken, with over 900 deaths and more than 2,000 injuries reported.

Furthermore, Congressman Molinaro highlights the urgency of the situation, citing ongoing attacks by Hamas and reports of Americans being taken as hostages. The suspension of operations by many airlines in the region and the cancellation of flights have left thousands stranded, adding to the urgency of the situation.

In his letter, Congressman Molinaro requests specific information and actions from the State Department, including:

1. The number of American citizens currently in Israel.
2. Details about outreach and assistance efforts being made for these individuals.
3. Actions taken by the State Department to help American citizens return to the United States.
4. Any measures being considered to increase the number of outgoing flights from Israel to the United States.

The congressman expresses gratitude for the State Department’s efforts during this crisis and emphasizes the need for swift assistance to American citizens.

“We look forward to your response and stand by ready to help in any way we can,” the letter concludes.

  1. The airlines seem reluctant to fly to Israel now likely because their aircrafts are not missle shielded as are ElAl’s aircrafts. That’s routine for ElAl – it’s a very expensive process but their aircraft do carry this protection while others do not.

  2. For the next several days, EY has higher priorities than worrying about foreign nationals wanting to go home or responding to politicians worried about their constituents. They are at no greater risk than any of 9 million Israelis.

  3. I believe the DOD and state department are sending cargo planes with equipment to Israel already.
It would not be terribly difficult to bring a number of Americans back on the return leg of those flights.
It would not be a comfortable ride, as these are military transport planes not Boeing 787s, but they would certainly be up for the task of evacuating hundreds of Americans at a time.

  4. El Al is flying:- I always patronize El Al. They are simply the best.
I think we should all be going immediately to Israel to be מבקר חולים and to מנחם אבלים the families of the victims
