HATE IN BROOKLYN: NYPD Investigating Two Hate Crimes In Flatbush Over Simchas Torah

The NYPD is currently investigating two biased incidents in the Flatbush area since the horrific Hamas attacks in Israel.

In the first incident, a Jewish teen was the victim of a hate crime assault in Flatbush on Simchas Torah night.

NYPD sources tell YWN that the victim was approached by two Middle Eastern men in the vicinity of East 12 Street, and Ave N, and asked if he was Jewish. He was then thrown to the ground. Both suspects fled on foot.

Thankfully, the victim was not seriously injured.

The NYPD 70 Precinct responded immediately, and the Flatbush Shomrim Shabbos patrol was dispatched and was able to retrieve security camera footage of the incident.

In a second disturbing incident, three Jewish men were shot with BB’s in the vicinity of Lawrence Avenue near East 2nd Street on Simchas Torah afternoon. Luckily, they were not seriously injured. Sources tell YWN that they were shot from a nearby rooftop.

The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating both incidents and taking them very seriously.

NYPD Commanding Officer of Community Affairs, Inspector Richie Taylor, responded to the incidents.

The NYPD has increased their patrols throughout Jewish communities around the Five Boros. Flatbush Shomrim and Shomrim from other neighborhoods will have 24-hour patrols in their marked vehicles.

YWN notes that there have been no other Hate incidents in NYC over Simchas Torah.

If you see anything suspicious, please call 911 immediately.
