CROWN HEIGHTS: Bochur Seriously Injured During Insane Simchas Bais Hashoeva Stunt [VIDEO]

A bochur was seriously injured during Wednesday night’s Simchas Bais Hashoeva celebrations in Crown Heights, after he partook in a dangerous and ill-advised stunt.

The terrifying incident occurred near the main stage at the Simchas Bais Hashoeva, when two bochurim climbed up a traffic signal pole, briefly hanging off of it before jumping about twenty feet to the ground below.

One of the bochurim landed on his feet; the other, however, slammed his upper body into the ground, consequently causing critical injuries.

Hatzolah rushed to the scene, but were unable to access the severely hurt patient for several minutes due to the large crowd in the vicinity. Shomrim assisted in clearing the way for paramedics, allowing them to begin lifesaving treatment on the injured bochur.

The boy was subsequently transported to the hospital, where he was intubated and given a grim prognosis. B’chasdei Hashem, the bochur experienced a great improvement in his condition overnight, and doctors now expect him to fully recover from his injuries – though tefillos are still very much needed.

Please daven for Mordechai ben Tzipora Rochel.

  1. Why post a video of this? what do gain besides ill advised speach? maybe the hack u guys experienced was a signal to perhaps change some of your postings

  2. I think the Simchas Beis HaShoeivah thing is now out of control and WAY beyond what it is supposed to be. We need to get back to our basics of Learning Torah and serving HaShem Hatzneia Leches.

  3. YWN has done a service to the religious Jewish world by showing how religious Jews need to show respect for the natural order and not attempt ludicrous stunts that violate Torah law.

  4. Stay in Baltimore.
    Stupid games win stupid prizes.
Maybe if people see the dumb things we do they will stop

  5. Baltimoreyid613, you couldn’t have said it better! Sad event! Teen-agers aren’t always as smart as they think they are.

  6. every year same dance different hall NO LEADERSHIP hefker pefker just like the cemetery story in the summer

  7. every year same dance different hall NO LEADERSHIP hefker pefker just like the cemetery story in the summer no respect living in a bubble a person is forbidden to put themselves at risk

  8. Thanks YWN for posting this.

Important lesson for everyone not to try out stupid things like this.

I was there at the time.
It was a weird feeling watching it happen –
On one hand feeling bad, but also thinking “how stupid”

  9. I have a few questions.
My biggest question is how come the Askanim from Lubavitch did not make a clear path for the Hatzalah.
    ¿¿???????¿??????????????????

  10. Silly kids and silly adults to allow such a foolish and dangerous stunt. What responsible message are these adults sending to children? Foolishness!

  11. At some point, you cannot protect true idiots from themselves…..perhaps the severe injury will deter future stunts like this but unlikely. The real shame is that it diverts first responders from true emergencies.

  12. Voyeur of life:
Was your comment meant to wake up Yeshiva World and have them change their way of doing business?
If yes– Do you truly think and believe that your nice, sensitive, kind and warm comment will accomplish that?

  13. I have heard many times that a Baal Teshuvah can never be equal to FFB.
Also: that public school kids can never be equal to yeshivah students.

Yet both young people in this video are certainly FFB yeshivah students.

What does this video demonstrate about the superiority of FFB yeshivah students?

  14. The Gemara & Rambam says “Chasidim..and Anshei Maase” like Rav Shimom Ben Gamlieĺ would perform fìre-juggling acts, a far safer activity from this craziness. Enough said.

I don’t see this story on COLlive, for likely obvious reasons, the same ones not write it here either.
    Refuah shelima

  15. The responsibility of whatever goes on in these events lies on the shoulders of the organizers and those “mature” adults by-standing and encouraging them even as they climbed the pole. Not one person protested. כל ישראל ערבים זה לזה. Let this be a lesson not to be bystanders when you see someone else in need, pain or doing something harmful to themselves or others.
הוכח תוכיח את עמיתך is also a Mitzvah:
    ונשמרתם מאד לנפשותיכם
    והחי יתן אל לבו

  16. This is the manifestation of a larger problem. Bochurim are young and constantly being pushed to behave and act a certain way that the moment they can be themselves ends and catastrophe. Bochurim are going through so much at such an age. Not just shame on the adults who were there present but shame on those in their day to day lives at home and Yeshiva who aren’t equipped to care for our young. Reflect and look around you, don’t let another tragedy like this happen again!

  17. To yussel what does this stupid decision from this young bochur have to do with now we go back to learning torah! Learning is a 24/7 obligation and on sukkos it’s a special time for simchas beis hashoeiva ZMAN SIMCHASEINU don’t stop an amazing thing from this accident

  18. What do you expect when their Rabbaim taught them (just like every other scientific principle) the “Theory of Gravity” was invented by Atheist scientists because they hate G-d & don’t want to be constrained by Torah & Mitzvos?

  19. @yussel
just because some idiots do dangerous and deadly things doesnt mean we should be mevatel the horaah of the lubavitcher rebbe melech hamoshiach shlita
    @avraham
i dont know if you were ever there or not (i was at the time of this incident) it is extremely packed and constantly moving so the fact it only took a couple of minutes is a miracle in itself

yechi adonenu moreinu verabeinu melech hamoshiach leolam vaed
