Israel’s President Herzog spoke to Congress on Wednesday in an appearance aimed at demonstrating what he calls the “unbreakable bond” between Israel and the United States.
Isaac Herzog became the second Israeli president, after his father, Chaim Herzog, to address Congress.
The speech is meant to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Israel’s statehood, and to reaffirm the U.S.-Israeli relationship. A number of progressive Democrats, however, announced last week that they would boycott Herzog’s speech in part as a protest against Israel’s policies towards Palestinians.

Great speech, but why did you ruin it? by mentioning & even complimenting משכב זכר parades in T.A. at time of קבלת שבת
He’s trying to make the Declaration of Independence into a constitution. They all gave a standing applause to the Supreme Court as if they understand what’s going on.
The duo bigots Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib are just trash anti-Jewish hacks. Not true “progressives”, thought they use the naiive for their genocidal politics.
It was really a pretty decent speech, until he gave a shout out to the perverted alphabet mafia to prove how democratic the Israeli government is 🤮.
Nebach, his Zeida is probably turning over in his kever.
The picture posted atop this news story is not the picture of him today. He was clearly unshaven, as is the custom of most Ashkenazi Jews during this period of time. Interstingly he did invoke any heteirim.
@amydock Why do you think that? Im curious i didnt see that.
I though he was trying to tell the Americans to butt out of the interal politics of Israel and to trust the system.
And the refrence to the declaration of indepence as a source that the democracy will be able to hold by itself without interference.
I feel bad for the audience. They had to jump up and down like a jack-in-a-box to applaud all the time!
