Shortly after Marine Daniel Penny was charged by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg over the chokehold death of mentally unstable Jordan Neely on a Big Apple subway, he got a powerful – if not unexpected – ally: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
After Penny’s Friday arraignment on a second-degree manslaughter charge, DeSantis shared a legal defense fundraiser for the embattler Marine and called him a Good Samaritan.
“We must defeat the Soros-Funded DAs, stop the Left’s pro-criminal agenda, and take back the streets for law abiding citizens. We stand with Good Samaritans like Daniel Penny. Let’s show this Marine… America’s got his back,” DeSantis tweeted.

The tweet links to a crowd funding page which states: “Funds are being raised to pay Mr. Penny’s legal fees incurred from any criminal charges filed and any future civil lawsuits that may arise, as well as expenses related to his defense. All contributions are greatly appreciated. Any proceeds collected which exceed those necessary to cover Mr. Penny’s legal defense will be donated to a mental health advocacy program in New York City.”
Neely had a long, documented history of attacking people in New York City – the apparent result of untreated mental illness.
“When Mr. Penny, a decorated Marine veteran, stepped in to protect himself and his fellow New Yorkers, his well-being was not assured,” Penny’s attorney Steve Raiser said. “He risked his own life and safety, for the good of his fellow passengers. The unfortunate result was the unintended and unforeseen death of Mr. Neely. We are confident that once all the facts and circumstances surrounding this tragic incident are brought to bear, Mr. Penny will be fully absolved of any wrongdoing.”

But he was arrested in New York City, so it is a waste to raise money for his defense since he has already been convicted. For politically incorrect crimes, trials are a mere formality since actual guilt or innocence is irrelevant.
too bad there is no video of the maniac getting out of hand. Then none of this should really happen.
Who can forget the wonderful result from 1989/1990 when another public affairs kibbitzer (who would become the 45th president of the United States) cheered on the prosecution of some black teenagers who were in Central Park the same night that a woman from Connecticut was murdered by some criminal well-known to the police. I think the wrongful convictions of those innocent teens cost the city more than $40 million.
Often the best advice is:- Walk away from these situations & don’t become involved. This includes Daniel Penny & Yigal Amir amongst countless others.
huju,
You blab a great deal about how much you love the homeless and illegal immigrants but never invite any for a sleepover. Please do so and I hope they peel your face off with a teaspoon.
Huju, wrong. She wasn’t murdered, she was raped. Those black youths were NOT innocent. Although a Puerto Rican career criminal later confessed and these boys spent years in jail, they also did nothing to help her when they came upon her unconscious. Instead, they molested her, just short of rape, since she was a white woman. Scum of the earth.
Gadolhadofi,
That is the most disgusting thing to say to another yid, please check your yichus
The judge,
Don’t confuse huju with the facts
To THE JUDGE: Yes, t was rape, not murder. As for your allegations in your last sentence, I ask you for your source, if any.
To Gadolhagoofi: I have never said, nor do I, love the homeless or illegal immigrants. I do think they are human, like you and me, and deserve humane treatment. I think the Torah says that too.
One other point. I commuted by subway for 25 years. There were plenty of scary people, and it was always sufficient to just move away from them when they erupted. One guy even pulled a knife, but passengers were able to back away, and no one got stabbed. Maybe things were different for this Nrrly guy, but in my experience, that would not be the case.
