Hatzolah of Boro Park has launched a new campaign urging drivers to take it slow and heed the law – especially on Friday afternoons.
A flyer released by Hatzolah stated that 52 drivers blew through red lights this past Friday alone, adding, “How much grief can we prevent?”
“Safety doesn’t stop before the zman – no matter what time Shabbos starts,” the flyer reads. “Join us in a Boro Park effort to keep our children and community safe by following traffic laws, driving within city speed limits, and obeying road rules. Keep Boro Park safe.”
The campaign comes just weeks after the tragic petirah of 23-year-old Chaim Bloom z”l, a recently married man who was sadly niftar on Erev Pesach after being struck when two vehicles rushing to beat the zman collided and wound up on a sidewalk.
According to YWN sources, one of those vehicles had blown through a red light, leading to the accident that killed R’ Chaim z”l.

ITS WAY MORE THAN THAT AND ITS EVERY DAY. NOT TO MENTION A LOT OF OTHER EXTREMLY DANGERIOUS MOVES AND TURNS THAT OUR RECKLESS HEIMESHE DRIVERS FEEL THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO DO. SOMETIMES WITH EMT LICENSES. HATZALA DRIVERS! PLEASE DO NOT LET YOUR WIFE OR KIDS USE YOUR CAR IF THEY DONt ABIDE BY THE LAW!!
Anyone caught driving thru any red light {even a red light that has just become red} and especially in last hour before onset of Shabbos, must have their driver license automatically suspended for 3 years; Then if there is even 1 infraction of driving on suspended license, must be locked up for duration of suspended license, to prevent any further driving on suspended license.
Maybe we could be matir to drive on shabbat so they will take their time

Let’s not get carried away. We need to keep on educating our young and immature drivers that you are playing with fire. A Vechile is like ammunition . It can get you from one place to the other in comfort but also can get you to Jail…Vechile manslaughter means if you drive a car in violation of the law and kill somebody בשוגג you will be doing time in prison and live the rest of your life with the guilt of killing another person . You destroy yourself your family and the victims family all for your actions.

My job takes me around Boro Park and through 2 boroughs (sometimes three) I get to see non jewish drivers in other neighborhoods. They are much worse than Boro Park drivers. A few points about driving, When I learned to drive my instructor gave me the best advice always assume the other driver or pedestrian will make a mistake. if you have a green light it doesn’t hurt to give a honk to warn pedestrians or bikers that you are coming through. If someone honks you from behind move a little faster don’t davka slow down the other driver may have someplace important to go. If you are going to take that yellow light slow up as you cross the intersection. In today’s society there is no accidents anymore now its car violence. If you Ch”v have an accident they’ll come at you even for doing 26 mph.
not only the cars,also a big lot of chassidim go through the red light with children. i asked one of those crossing the road when it was red with 4 children. he answered me,the gojisch laws dont interess me at all.

Many boro parkers treat traffic signs as suggestions, i drive through boro park daily and i slow down by each crosswalk even if its green for me since inevitably some moronic mothers will push their double stroller through while yapping on their flip phones. They all have the same surprised look when you honk at them. And yes, i am tempted daily to mow them down
Forgot to add, that they will double Park block the street they don’t care how many cars are behind them, so why would they care about some minor inconvenience such as a red light when they have to get somewhere
Every guy that gets caught speeding Erev Shabbos should be locked up in a cell till Motzei Shabbos…
