Kentucky Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has publicly called for the imprisonment of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg over his alleged abuse of power regarding a potential indictment of former President Donald Trump.
Paul’s comments came in a tweet Tuesday and follows the former president’s prediction that he would be indicted.
“A Trump indictment would be a disgusting abuse of power,” Paul said in the tweet.
The Kentucky senator did not provide any further details or context on the tweet, and Trump had not been formally indicted by the district attorney’s office as of Tuesday afternoon.

If Trump broke laws why does Rand Paul think it’s wrong to indict him? Did he study law in medical school?

He’s right. If this happens, then the next Republican president should assign a dedicated prosecutor to hound Alvin Bragg, dig up every possible speck of dirt in his history from the time he finished kindergarten, and find something, anything, to indict him on — just as he did to Trump. No, that wouldn’t be fair, but he would be estopped from complaining about it.
It’s time Republicans stopped playing by the Marquess of Queensberry rules; there’s a time to be straight and a time to be crooked, and that time is when you are dealing with the crooked. The Democrats set the rules; the Republicans should make them live by them. Otherwise nothing will ever change; Democrats will keep abusing power whenever they get it, confident that they will suffer no consequences when they lose it.
He is really as dumb as Trump? I think its a stupid case to be pursuing but there is no basis to “jail” a prosecutor, even if you think he/she has not correctly handled the Grand Jury investigation. Paul is increasingly off the wall and simply throws out rants with no basis. He used to be very focused on libertarian issues but increasingly has become a wingnut.
Alvin Bragg should at minimum be recalled, but probably face a a judge in both civil and criminal court for many things, especially his malicious prosecution of Jose Alba.
Alba was an employee at a bodega in NYC who was attacked by an armed felon who was physically larger than him. He was backed into a corner and faced the very real possibility of death.
When the opportunity struck for him to grab a knife and defend himself, he took the opportunity and saved his own life.
Alvin Bragg then proceeded to drag him through a nightmare scenario of facing criminal charges (initially without the option for bail) while still trying to earn a basic living.
Even after the initial public outcry Bragg refused to backtrack, despite even mayor Adams calling out the unfairness of the situation.
Eventually, only after it became clear to Mr Bragg that there was enough public support behind Alba and his defense would be well funded and vigorous, did he drop the charges.
A prosecutor who can blatantly allow violent felons of the hill with not so much as a warning, while viciously going after an immigrant for defending himself, not only does not deserve the confidence of his constituents, but should face civil lawsuits (and be stripped of qualified immunity) and criminal charges.

The point here is to throw back at the prosecutor the type of twisted arguments that the prosecutor is making against Trump. For example, by analogy to the way the prosecutor was arguing against Trump, it would would be possible to charge the prosecutor with taking bribes (i.e. campaign money for certain anti-Trump sources) in exchange for which he would prosecute Trump.
