Following a series of reports from Fox News host Tucker Carlson showing many of the Jan. 6 protesters at the Capitol acting rather peaceful, Trump called for Democratic congressmen to be put on trial for treason.
“GREAT JOB BY TUCKER CARLSON TONIGHT,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “The Unselect Committee of political Hacks & Thugs has been totally discredited. They knowingly refused to show the Videos that mattered. They should be tried for Fraud and Treason, and those imprisoned and being persecuted should be exonerated and released, NOW!”
In case you didn’t know, treason is kind of a big deal.
Under 18 U.S.C. § 2381, actual treason is punishable by death, as it states, “Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.”

Trump had a chance to pardon them before he left office, but decided not to. And it’s not so simple to exonerate them, since the laws they were convicted of breaking are real, though without the Democrat propaganda they would never have been prosecuted in the first place.
I don’t understand. Trump, as President, had access to this footage. Why didn’t he have these videos released while he was in office? Why is he acting like he’s learnt something new?

Just amazing to see how you all forgot how many times Trump himself was a victim of this very accusation, for the sin of standing up to the American people.
They cannot lower the bar of “treason” for others and not for themselves. (Besides the fact that covering for China is probably real treason anyway…)
Whoever is complaining that Trump should’ve released the footage forgets that it’s primarily in the hands of congress, and you forget the barrage he was dealing with those last 2 weeks… I don’t mind you but come on. A little reality.

These people are today’s holocaust deniers, it just happened, everyone saw and those there experienced the violence.
They should be tried for fraud and all of them including the prosecutors judges and “law enforcement agencies” should be liable for damages for wrongly incarcerating individuals for months on end without due process

1. These people ARE treasonous, which is defined as “betrayal to one’s country”, especially the way he was accused of that every other day for 4 years…
2. Most of the people rotting in jail were let in by police and encouraged by the FBI. Many were only charged with “trespassing”, and some were not tried at all!
Trump should get together with Biden’s “drama queen” press secretary. They would be highly entertaining, as long as it is clear that one shouldn’t take them seriously.
Sooner or later, there will be a candidate who makes a point of being dull and boring and inoffensive (and focused on getting the job done), and people will go to him or her and get rid of the politicians who feel they have to be overly dramatic and insulting to win election.
Also note that in our tradition, our political leaders are always dull and boring, and prefer long scholarly arguments over rabble-rousing insults (and we’ve managed to survive for several millenia).
