YWN regrets to inform you of the petirah of Reb Moshe Bertram z”l, who was niftar on Wednesday in Lakewood. He was 82.
Reb Moshe z”l was born in the Bertch ghetto in April 1940 and went on to survive the brutal conditions of Siberia through World War II before arriving in the U.S. in 1949.
The founder of Bertram Foods, Reb Moshe z”l was scrupulous almost to a fault. Just a week ago, he mentioned to his son Shimmy that he was confident he had never taken “a nickel that didn’t belong to me.”
A lifelong Bluzhever chasid, he unwaveringly followed the advice and guidance of his rebbe and rabbanim, and established doros of boys and girls who are following in his upright path.
Reb Moshe z”l, is survived by his wife, Mrs. Chani Bertram yb”l, and his children: Shimmy, Yerucham, Heshy, Yitzchak, and Mrs. Yitty Dessler.
The levaya is set to take place at 10:15 am Thursday morning at the Sons of Israel Holocaust Memorial Chapel, 613 Ramsey Avenue in Lakewood, with kevurah to follow at the Wellwood Cemetery in West Babylon, NY (Long Island).

Didn’t he lose his brother, and co-founder of Bertram Foods, almost three years ago during the beginning of Covid?
