The levaya of Elan Ganeles, a US-Israeli citizen who was murdered in a terror attack near Yam Hamelech on Monday, was held in Ra’anana on Wednesday.
Ganeles’ family members flew to Israel for the levaya and are returning to Connecticut to sit shiva.
Ganeles, z’l, was in Israel on a visit to visit friends and attend a friend’s wedding.
Among the maspidim were Elan’s parents, brothers, friends, uncle and Rabbi Tuvia Brander, the Rav of the family’s shul, Young Israel of West Hartford. Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu (Otzma Yehudit) also spoke as a representative of the government.
In a heartwarming display of sympathy, over 1,000 people, most of whom did not know the niftar, attended the levaya, with most having to stand outside the beis levayos due to the large crowd.
