A cautionary lockdown at Yeshiva Darchei Eres (YDE) on Flatbush’s Coney Island Avenue was lifted Thursday afternoon after a reportedly armed barricaded subject directly across from the Yeshiva was found not to be at the scene.
The yeshiva was placed on lockdown by the NYPD and members of Flatbush Shomrim due to the risk of potential spillover violence, as police negotiators attempted to contact the man, who was believed to have holed up in an apartment building at around 12:30 pm Thursday following a landlord-tenant dispute.
The man had reportedly phoned police and was threatening to shoot people. The NYPD’s Intelligence Unit has since been in touch with the suspect and confirmed that he is not in the building following a sweep of the premises.
NYPD Commanding Officer of Community Affairs Richie Taylor and NYPD Lieutenant Yitzy Jablon of Brooklyn South Community Affairs were both at the scene, ensuring that the school and parents were kept updated as students remained under lockdown.
A short while later the man was spotted in the area and taken into custody.

The man they have in custody looks like one of the men who’s photo is on the FBI wanted list for the January 6th assault on the Capital.
@147 the landlord will likely be viciously prosecuted within the next year.
Do you mean Yeshiva Darchei Emes? What would “Eres” mean?
No, it’s Darchei Eres. Go look at its web site.
