Trump’s obituary has been written dozens of times, most recently after his meeting with unapologetic antisemites Kanye West and Nick Fuentes and the GOP’s disheartening performance in the 2022 midterms, but the former president somehow manages to rise time and again.
The latest instance of this phenomenon is his massive polling lead in a hypothetical 2024 GOP primary in which he is pitted against multiple top-tier GOP presidential hopefuls.
The latest Harvard CAPS-Harris poll finds that if he faced eight different top-tier Republican candidates in 2024, including Ron DeSantis, Mike Pence, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, Nikki Haley, and others, he would get more votes that all of them combined.
In the survey, 48% of respondents said Trump is their first choice to become the GOP nominee in 2024; 28% said the same of DeSantis, 7% for Mike Pence, and 3% said so regarding either Marco Rubio or Nikki Haley. Just 1% said Ted Cruz would be their preferred Republican nominee in the next presidential election.
Trump also boasted a 10-point advantage over DeSantis in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup, and a 5-point lead over Joe Biden in a general election matchup.
So, while the former president certainly has some challenges ahead of him, one thing is clear: Donald Trump is still king over the Republican Party.

That’s because he against a large group, people have to coalesce around one anti trump and he’s done
with the result as 2020 – a WOKE government (banning yeshivos, quotas, mandatory sex assignments)
That is a very, very troubling state of affairs, if true.
Thanks to the media. The media knows exactly what they’re doing. They want Trump elected as the GOP candidate to boost their ratings. All the free air time and “negative” attention Trump gets just fires up his base. Trump voters (and all conservatives in general) absolutely despise the media. A Trump candidacy spells a certain demonratic win. That’s something Trump loyalist don’t seem to understand.
