A Telegram channel that claims to have insider information from the Kremlin claims that Russian President Vladimir Putin has become “withdrawn, silent and deeply preoccupied” as he undergoes a new treatment.
There have been widespread rumors that Putin is suffering from advanced cancer and the early stages of Parkinson’s.
The channel, General SVR, claims that “Putin is undergoing a course of treatment with drugs which, in addition to their therapeutic effect, cause weakness, dizziness, [and] lack of appetite, which does not affect his psycho-emotional state in the best way.”
It added that Putin has gone “almost silent” and refuses to see practically anyone.
“He is about to gamble, if not by going for broke, then by raising the stakes to a critical level,” General SVR claimed.
“In the event of the failure of the forthcoming Russian offensive on the front and the loss of control over even a part of the previously occupied territories, it will be impossible to convince the elites of the possibility of a ‘victorious’ exit from the military adventure,” the channel explained.
“In that case there will be no more victorious offensives by Russian troops. There would be a guaranteed defeat, with all the consequences for Putin personally. The use of nuclear weapons on the territory of Ukraine, in such a case, is possible.”
“The war exists in the mind of one terminally ill person with a disturbed psyche, who is trying to take as many people as possible with him to the mythical ‘paradise’.”

A rumor on social media is not exactly a reliable source.
If the United States appears to be weak and divided, and led by a president who is a fool who would not return fire if Russia starts blowing up American (and allied) cities, it might tempt the Russians. That might be a factor with an “America First” (isolationist) president, or a left-wing “woke” president (think socialists such as Bernie Sanders), but Biden for all his faults, is an old fashioned cold war Democrat (think of John Kennedy or Lyndon Johnson) whose political model growing up was Franklin Roosevelt (not known as a pacifist), and like Putin (and the rest of the boomers), Biden has no need to worry about the future since he won’t be around for it in any event.
