Steve Bannon says the January 6th committee did Trump a huge favor by referring him to the Justice Department for prosecution; doing so has fired up his base and invigorated his faltering 2024 campaign.
“All they’re doing is firing up people more,” Bannon told Daily Mail.
Before broadcasting his Right Side Broadcasting Network show from the Turning Point USA gathering in Phoenix on Monday, Bannon turned to the crowd near the set and shouted, “The January 6 committee, they just did criminal referrals on Trump. Does that make you more motivated than ever to work for Trump?”
“Yes!” came the crowd’s resounding response.
“A show trial doesn’t mean anything,” Bannon said. “It’s only going to empower him more with this base. It means he’s only going to be more powerful and tougher to beat in a primary.”
With the January 6 committee’s referrals, Trump is now the only former president to be referred to the Justice Department for prosecution.

To some degree that is what they are looking to do.
Some of the people on that committee would have no relevance and the Democrats would have much more difficulties at elections without Trump.

That shows the Democrats are much more clever than one would think. The worst case scenario for the Democrats is someone other than Trump running for president, but with Trump supporting him or her. The best case scenario, for the Democrats, is Trump running. The Democrats want a repeat of 2018, 2020 and 2022, so that after 2024 they will have solid control of the government. Thus they need to revive Trump’s campaign. Clever strategic thinking has been displayed by the Democrats.
