INTERESTING: Tucker Carlson Praises Trump But Refuses to Endorse Him Over DeSantis

Carlson says he felt a moral obligation to meet with President Donald Trump to warn him about the seriousness of coronavirus. He told Vanity Fair that while he didn't feel it was his role, his wife convinced him to request the meeting, which took place on March 7. (AP Photo/Richard Drew, File)

Is one of Donald Trump’s most powerful allies in conservative media moving away from him? That’s a question many are asking after Fox News host Tucker Carlson was asked straight up who he’d support in 2024 – and he refused to give a straight answer.

“Who do you plan to support: Donald Trump or Ron DeSantis?” a young man named Joshua asked Carlson at America Fest 2022 in Phoenix.

“Who cares what I think?” Carlson said. “You know what I mean? I’m not endorsing anybody. I have no idea what’s gonna happen in the Republican primary.”

“I spend a lot of time in Florida,” Carlson said. “And I think Ron DeSantis has done, like, an unbelievable job.”

“I’m so grateful Donald Trump ran in 2016. Donald Trump completely changed my view of everything. Donald Trump is why I left Washington. And he did it in a really simple way: By asking questions that no one around could answer.”

“I should also add — since, why not — I actually love Donald Trump as a guy. I know Trump. I’ve known Trump for 20 years ’cause I work in the media, you know?.And I just have always gotten along with him. And I think he’s one of the funniest people I’ve ever talked to in my life. I think he’s got this unbelievable life force to him.

“Talking to Trump… especially when it’s not an interview — you don’t actually want to interview Trump. That’s a nightmare ’cause you can’t get him to answer any questions. ‘Cause it’s the Trump train. You can get on or off, but you can’t steer it. Yeah, don’t ever interview Trump.

“But talking to Trump is one of the great joys, one of the great animal joys of life. Because he exudes this kind of animal joy. And I love that.”

  1. There is much to say about Trump that is to his credit. After initially buying the Covid end of the world story, he started objecting when it became obvious it was getting an exaggerated and counter-productive response. His tax cuts, particularly in expanding the standard deduction and cutting the liberal deductions for high income taxpayer’s mortgages and state taxes was far more “progressive” than anything the Democrats have ever done. He fought back against dubious environmental dogmas that hurt the economy. He was no worse on national security than the Democrats.

But he is a loser, largely since he didn’t realize that winning elections is about appealing to a majority a voters rather than by rally a “base” by insulting everyone else. And in politics, even a principled and beloved loser, goes unsupported.

  2. MDshweks : So you prefer Trump as the leader of the opposition, while Biden gets a second term and probably large majorities in both House of Congress and ability to fill the judiciary with WOKE judges — or do you prefer DeSantis (or some other conservative, but not 100% MAGA Republican as President with Republican control of both houses of Congress.

There is a reason the Democrats are praying for Trump to be the Republican nominee in 2024 – it’s there best hope of winning.

  3. Among likely Republican primary voters 61% want to see Donald Trump run for president again in 2024. That’s the same result we had on Nov. 8, 2022 in our exit poll.

If Donald Trump runs again in 2024, 77% of likely primary voters say they would support him again. The same result as our 2022 election exit poll.

In a field of 14 candidates, among likely primary voters, Trump leads with 48%. Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., is second at 23%, followed by former Vice President Mike Pence 5%, Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., 4%, former governor of South Carolina and U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley 3%, Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah 2%, and all others at 1%.

Since the election 2022 exit poll, Trump is up a point and Gov. DeSantis is down 4%. In a head to head matchup, among likely primary voters, Trump leads DeSantis 58% to 36%.

Among these likely Republican primary voters, 59% think that Donald Trump is better positioned to beat Joe Biden in 2024 for president.

    Only 36% prefer someone else.

In a 2024 general election among all likely voters, Trump leads Joe Biden 48% to 45%.

Among all likely voters Trump leads Vice President Kamala Harris 49% to 42%.

  4. Speaking of Tucker, as it is now (Dec/22 Chanukah/5783), Greenblatt aught to concentrate on fighting hate, what ADL has been traditionally doing, and not be political.

    Enough said.

  5. You see how YWN MANIPULATES THE NEWS TO FIT THEIR NARRATIVE.
They could have headlined “TUCKER CARLSON PRAISES TRUMP”
but instead MANIPULATED – DOCTORED – THE NEWS to look bad on Trump!

  6. To all who see Trump as their savior, remember 2018, 2020, 2022 — and be ready for 2025 when the Supreme Court holds by a 7-6 majority that the 1st amendment means “freedom from religion”, and that expressing disapproval of anything WOKE is actually “hate speech” and not protected as “free speech”.

Reagan and the Bushes weren’t cool, but their principles worked for us, and they won.
