Former Trump national security adviser John Bolton said he’s prepared to launch a bid for president in 2024 if only to help stop the former president from tearing up the Constitution.
Following Musk’s reveal of Twitter’s suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story, Trump called for the the “termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution.”
Trump has since tried walking it back, but not before getting significant blowback for the comment.
“I think to be a presidential candidate you can’t simply say I support the Constitution, you have to say I would oppose people who would undercut it,” Bolton said on NBC. “We used to have a thing in the House of Representatives called the House Un-American Affairs Committee. I think when you challenge the Constitution itself the way Trump himself has done, that is un-American.”
Bolton said he’s especially concerned because he knows all potential Republican 2024 candidates have seen Trump’s call for the termination of the Constitution, but none of them have come out to condemn it.
The former national security adviser said if the 2024 to call out Trump has to be him, so be it.

Whether he runs in the Republican primaries or as a third party candidate he will only make a Trump presidency more likely.
You don’t run on a negative reason, and that doesn’t curry votes.
You have to run on a positive agenda, so clearly Bolton reason for running is going to get him so absolutely nowhere
If it is an election between Trump and Biden, he is more likely to hurt Biden. Bolton is a “neocon” (advocate of a strong foreign policy in support of freedom and democracy abroad, similar to Reagan and Bush, or even earlier, John Kennedy or Harry Truman). Trump is an “America First” isolationist, opposed to American intervention in other countries’ affairs. Given the choice between Biden (who is a moderate interventionist, but clearly not an isolationist – remember he does support arming Ukraine, which Trump was wishy-washy about and Obama was clearly opposed) and Trump, the neocons will vote for Biden.
On the other hand, if Biden retires, and the Progressive wing of the Democrats takes over, so the election is between two isolationists, there would be room for a neocon/internationalist/interventionist as a third party (with a strategy of getting the election to the house, and rely on the mutual hatred of the WOKE and the MAGA to be everyone’s least bad alternative). However the ticket will do better with established politicians from the major parties, not someone who has never held an elective office.

More sheker. President Trump staunchly defended the constitution. It is both disgusting and beyond absurd to claim that President Trump running for President would mean that he would be “tearing up the constitution”.
John might get one vote – his own – from the entire country. And maybe some Repubicans with TDS who work at places like The National Review. The Left despise him.
HaKatan, he just openly said he would like to tear up the constitution. All Bolton’s asking for is for other Republican candidates to make it clear that they disagree. That’s not unreasonable.
