Mike Pence, the former vice president to Donald Trump, called AG Merrick Garland’s appointment of a special counsel to take over the Justice Department’s probes of the former president “very troubling.”
“The appointment of a special counsel is very troubling,” Pence told Fox News Digital. “No one is above the law, but I am not sure it’s against the law to take bad advice from your lawyers.”
Pence noted that there the Justice Department is politicized, pointing to the Russia investigation as evidence.
“There have been disclosed FBI agents falsifying documents, the FBI using a Clinton campaign-funded opposition research document to support two and a half years of the Russia hoax,” Pence said.
The former veep also said he was “deeply troubled” when he learned that “senior leadership at the Justice Department made the decision to execute a search warrant against the personal residence of the former president of the United States.”
“It had never been done in history,” Pence noted, asserting that the raid “sent a divisive message across the country” and “sent a wrong message about America around the world.”

It is significant that Pence is saying that. If Pence could position himself as someone defending Trump against the Democrats abuse of the legal system, it could be politically important. Pence is well respected by the wings of the Republican party who dislike Trump, but if could manage to reconcile with the MAGA wing of the Republicans, he would be well position as a potential presidential candidate – since to win the Republicans need someone other than Trump who can unite the party.
It is very troubling.
AG Merrick Garland should simply continue with the probe and prosecute him according to the fullest extent of the law.
Why appoint a special council to ensure that there is no conflict of interest ? Trump would never have done that and if he wins in 2024 he will not do it when he takes revenge.
Stealing Top Secret documents from the WH is an easily prosecuted offense.
Pushing for Pence to do something unconstitutional while ignoring the advice of his lawyers who told him that he had lost the election and there was nothing that could be legally done, is also easily prosecuted.
Trump always prided himself on being the president of law and order.
Don’t remember Pence during the 4 years of the terribly corrupt Trump presidency ever raising concerns… Wonder if Pence is concerned about Republicans promising to waste their time investigating Hunter’s laptop?
Guess, Pence is trying to figure out some way to make himself relevant and become President… Can’t wait to see him in debates with Trump and DeSantis with each one trying to out-insult the next.
