POMPEO’S SEEN ENOUGH: Mike Says GOP Needs Leader Who Doesn’t Call Himself a “Victim”

Following Donald Trump’s Tuesday night announcement of his 2024 run during which he repeatedly referred to himself as a “victim,” his former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo went after him, saying the Republican Party doesn’t need a whiner leading it.

“We need more seriousness, less noise, and leaders who are looking forward, not staring in the rearview mirror claiming victimhood,” Pompeo wrote on Twitter without directly naming Trump.

During his speech, Trump said: “I’m a victim, I will tell you. I’m a victim.”

As time passes since the disastrous midterm results, the voices calling for Trump to be disposed of haven’t gotten quieter, and more prominent Republicans have been urging him to get out of the way.

Polls also suggest that Trump is beginning to finally lose his vice-like grip over the GOP, with an NBC News poll released last week finding a record number of Republican voters supporting the party over Trump, and other polls showing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis leading the former president in head-to-head matchups in key 2024 states.

  1. Trump is a victim only because he represented the American people. We’re all the victim.
Try telling a victim of major abuse to forget the past and “just look forward”, while letting the abusers walk free…
    It will not work.

  2. Trump is correct. He is a victim, of a vast left-wing conspiracy (to borrow a term) to bring him down, involving the FBI, the CIA, the Democrat Party, and the tech giants Twitter, Facebook, and Google. The Russia hoax is perhaps the biggest political scandal in American history.

But Pompeo is correct too. Trump’s constant whining about how he was treated is turning voters off. And if that sounds callous, it’s appropriate to give Trump a dose of his own medicine. He was the one who said that he likes winners rather than losers, heroes rather than victims. That he prefers servicemen who didn’t get captured. For all the flak he got for it at the time, he was right. It’s only natural to prefer heroes, and prisoners of war are not heroes. Victims get sympathy but not admirers. And Trump is now a victim. So he needs to get out of the way. The next Republican president can give him the Medal of Freedom.

  3. @milhouse NICE.
however Trump would rather be POTUS and pin medal to himself.
He and his family Lost millions in lost revenue since his political switch, seems he doesn’t do it from a sense of saving country he likes his name big across building (even if doesn’t own them) same with this, his ego is to big for him to focus on a winning strategy. Needs to change up strategy being loud and offensive is not what it used to be.
