WATCH: Lev Tahor Members Escape Mexican Jail

All the members of the Lev Tahor cult who were arrested a week ago in Mexico escaped their jail on Wednesday at midnight.

However, two Lev Tahor members who were accused of serious crimes are still in Mexican custody as they are being held in a separate prison.

The cult members bribed the guards in order to escape. A video of the “escape” shows the guards refraining from making efforts to stop the cult members from fleeing.

Earlier on Wednesday, local Mexican media reported that three Lev Tahor members who weren’t arrested demonstrated outside the jail, demanding the release of the cult members.

According to a Mexican report, during the raid, the children were distanced from the adults out of fear that the adult members would kill the children rather than allowing them to live outside the cult.

In the video below, the children of the cult seem to be expressing their anger toward their guards.

  1. The cult members with their unique clothing shouldn’t be difficult to find if the authorities care. They don’t exactly blend in with the locals.

  2. It’s sad that mainstream Jewish news like Ami magazine was behind this cult. And apparently they still receive plenty of funding. If the funds were cut off we might be able to save these sick people

  3. Can we get some more information? This is half an article. It looks like the guards aren’t trying too hard to keep them in. Please only post an article when you have all of the information.

  4. Sensibleyid,
NOBODY is behind these people, yes the Ami made a mistake, they will be the first to admit, (and btw Harav Pam Zatza”l signed a letter encouraging people to help Helbrans get out of jail in the mid 90’s, and believe it or not, Rav Dovid Shustal Shlit”a made a parlor meeting in his house to raise funds, but it was of course all a mistake, even gedolim mentioned above are humans). THERE IS NOBODY TODAY THAT AGREES WITH ANYTHING THEY DO. THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH US FRUMME YIDDEN, PERIOD. The shabsai Tzvi had almost all the gedolim behind him until they realized that he was garbage, it doesn’t mean that the mainstream yidden supported him, once the truth came out.

  5. Chaylev Halyah: Please make up your mind.

From the videos, it would appear that the people who run the jails in Mexico are the Keystone Kops.

  6. I can’t for the life of me wrap my brain around this. What’s this all about? Where are the leaders of Klaal Yisroel on this super strange world of theirs? Not a word from any leader other than Ami and its frank.

  7. Erev yom kippur and sensibleyid can still publicly for zero toeles slam a wonderful frum magazine cos many years ago they might have posted interview from the inside of the group. Now saying am funded them give it a break and focus on ur own teshuva rather than judging others

  8. Re reading my nistake u were saying ami funded them. I take that back. But still let’s stop bashing a great mag that may have made a mistake a decade ago w an artivle

  9. To Ish HaShalom:
Thank you for your interesting comment.
May all of Klal Yisroel merit a year full of great health.
