Former White House Press Secretary Tony Snow died Saturday morning of colon cancer at 53.
He came to the White House in May 2006 after a successful career as a broadcaster for Fox News. But he left the job last September after a year and a half, saying he needed to make more money for his family.
Snow then went on to join CNN as a commentator.
In a statement, President George W. Bush said he was deeply saddened by the news, and said the United States of America has lost a devoted public servant and a man of character.
Snow was the father of three children.
