A Boro Park Shomrim member driving down Ocean Parkway on Wednesday morning, was suddenly “flagged down” by a woman screaming for help. He stopped his car, and the woman frantically told him that she had just been robbed by three men in a green minivan.

An alert was issued over the radio to be on the lookout for the suspect vehicle – and sure enough it was spotted a few moments later by another Boro Park Shomrim member. The vehicle was on Ocean Parkway near Avenue P.

Numerous Shomrim units responded, and when the vehicle stopped at a red light, and Shomrim units started approaching the vehicle. Realizing that they were trapped, the suspects attempted to flee on foot.

After a brief foot-pursuit, one suspect was apprehended, and was placed under arrest upon the arrival of the NYPD – after the woman who was robbed properly identified the suspect.

While they were doing the police report at the scene, Shomrim were informed by the NYPD that the vehicle fitting the exact description, along with its license plate number was a perfect match to a vehicle that they were searching for – and had been wanted for “numerous robberies in the area”.
