Eighteen students and three adults are dead after a shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, according to Gov. Greg Abbott.
The 18-year-old suspect, a student at Uvalde High School, is also dead, according to Abbott.
“He shot and killed horrifically and incomprehensibly 14 students and killed a teacher,” Abbott said during an unrelated press briefing.
The suspect also allegedly shot his grandmother before entering the school and again opening fire, Abbott said. He did not say anything further about her condition.
Abbott said the shooter had a handgun and also possibly a rifle.
Two officers were among those shot, and are in stable condition.

Another horrific episode of widespread gun violence
I’m a conservative, but when it comes to guns, I want every last one banned except for those needed by law enforcement. I know the line it’s not the guns that kill its the people who kill However there is no logical reason that high powered assault weapons or other such weapons should be manufactured except for the military. Why in the world are these crazies able to get their hands on such weapons?
Republicans must stop their opposition to common sense gun control. The GOP infatuation with guns for all is a danger to this country. The NRA and radical populist conservatives must be stopped. We need the government to act now on background checks and to legislate the banning of weapon sales to people who have a red flag record of dangerous rhetoric. Common sense legislation won’t stop all gun violence but even if it stops some it is worthwhile. We must be pro-life and work to put an end to easy gun access in this country
All these wild shooting movies and murder videos are destroying the American people.
The republicans will issue a press release or tweet that, “their prayers are with the victims’ families” and one or two of the real crazies will demand that every elementary school teacher be armed with an AR-15. The Dems will scream gevalt but do nothing to offend “second amendment” voters in swing states in November. Otherwise, we will just wait for the next slaughter.

The U.K. managed to stop and revert private gun ownership in 1996 after the Dunblane massacre, because there were so few guns in private ownership. The U.S. cannot do this now…or ever…..

In a capitalistic society private power is centralized within wealthy capitalists. Why are they letting 18 year olds have guns. Unless people are in the military or a police then they shouldn’t own any guns. No one would need a gun to defend themselves if they won’t have an attacker.
147 TX is a red state that has refused to enact red flag laws and has zero background checks required for the purchase of a weapon.
You can, maybe should, get rid of the guns. That’s fine with me. The killers will get them illegally. When that option is not available they will run over crowds with their car. More people in less time. And so forth and so on. The real problem in this country is its citizens’ mental health. Every crazy lunatic roams around unchecked.
Remember the second amendment allows the right to bear arms, for members of a “well regulated militia” NOT 18 YR OLDS… so ya we need to deal with gun control. Either we all have or no one has….
